Eating Gluten Free

Whether you have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity, you need to avoid consuming foods with gluten ingredients to avoid its adverse effects. Gluten is a component within the grains of wheat, barley and rye. Although we recommend you consult a doctor or nutritionist, we hope to shed some light on our own experiences with living a gluten-free lifestyle and recommend some products, that not only fit the bill, but that taste good too!

THE DILEMMA:

Although foods such as wheat-based pasta, breads made of rye or beverages brewed from barley are easy to identify, often manufacturers and restaurants use less obvious gluten present ingredients in their products or recipes that are difficult to identify or even unknown.

Examples included wheat-based breadings, gluten flours used to thicken sauces, wheat-containing soy sauces, or fermented and distilled beverages that contain barley or rye.
